Let’s take a look at the events about Morrisville, North Carolina that have contributed to the unique character of the community. Initially Morrisville was founded in 1852 by Jeremiah Morris when he donated some land to the railroad so they would have a stop for water and a depot. Like so many other small villages with the growth of train travel, Morrisville grew. In 1865 one of the last skirmishes of the Civil War took place at the Morrisville station. The Confederate forces tried to load supplies on the train and the effort was squelched by Sherman and the Union troops. To continue with the colorful history of the town, it was incorporated in 1875, disbanded in 1933 and then re-incorporated in 1947.

Morrisville’s population in 1990 was 1,022. In 2004 it was 11,915. In 2010 the population grew to 18,576. Today you will find the population to exceed 25,000. Now let’s look at the reason why the area exploded in the most recent years.
Location
Morrisville is in the sweet spot, 25 minutes from downtown Raleigh and the same to Durham. The small town has its own amenities, such as restaurants that feature Peruvian, Cuban, Indian, Mediterranean and other global flavors. Morrisville, sitting directly between Raleigh and Durham, is also directly next the the development that is responsible for the entire region to explode in population. In 1959 a government backed effort called the Research Triangle came to fruition. The original intent was to stop the brain drain from the three major universities. In 1965 the area took off with the initial endorsement from IBN. Now the region employees more than 50,000 employees.
Booming
With over 200 businesses now in the Research Triangle the entire region has grown. Morrisville has a very nice small town feel and you are able to find most anything you need in the community on a daily basis, but having the cosmopolitan markets of Raleigh and Durham only a coffee cup away sure makes it convenient, whether it be shopping, dining or other entertainment. The entire region boasts of many historical sites as well.
Convenience and amenities
There is a lot to be said about the convenient location of Morrisville. Having Interstate 40 running right next to town can get you to both cities, the Raleigh-Durham airport and local state parks with large bodies of water. The other really nice thing about Morrisville, North Carolina, is that by jumping on that interstate you are only a couple of hours from the Atlantic Ocean and the beaches and outer banks of the state.
